Welcome to D.A.R.E. MassachusettsDrug Abuse Resistance Education, D.A.R.E., is a program consisting of a series of classroom lessons that include the most up-to-date evidence and research-based strategies for drug abuse prevention. The program addresses common drug-related beliefs among adolescents; increases risk-awareness of substance abuse; and focuses on improving social skills like problem-solving, communication, decision making, and resistance/assertiveness training. The D.A.R.E. program is delivered by police officers at various grades, K-12. Children deserve the best from the largest drug prevention delivery system in the USA - and they have it with D.A.R.E.! President George W. Bush said, “By bringing our communities together to teach young people how to avoid illegal drugs, D.A.R.E. programs help stop drug use before it starts.” Whether it’s one child, one parent, one school, or one community at a time, D.A.R.E. Massachusetts will remain vigilant, focused and committed to strengthening D.A.R.E. programs statewide. D.A.R.E. Massachusetts, Inc. organized as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation in the fall of 2002. Today, we continue to build a team of dedicated officers and professionals who have the best interest of the D.A.R.E. program and the children of the Commonwealth at heart. Our top priorities are training new D.A.R.E. officers and providing refresher training to current D.A.R.E. officers. We also assist in securing resources for those officers as they provide the children of Massachusetts with the tools to lead a safe and drug-free life. Our mission is clear: "To provide leadership, guidance and program material for the delivery of D.A.R.E. programs to the children of Massachusetts." |
